Child entrepreneurs, the next new wave of wealth class to surface the Malaysian turf?

The breeding of clever young child entrepreneurs was given a stimulation at a four-day Karnival Mai Dagang 2016 at the Evolve Concept Mall in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya from Thursday 8 – Sunday 11 December.

shg_8433Premised on the theme of “child entrepreneurship”, DagangHalal chief marketing officer Nikole Mikhael Abdullah explained, “DagangHalal has teamed up with MaGIC, Malaysia’s Grow-The-Goose enterprise, Usahawan Cilik to teach children good money habits and the basics of trading that shall bring them financial independence by the time they turn 18.”

“Sessions would be conducted over the next few days with six-year old child mascot ‘Adik Akid’ (Mohd Akid Mirza bin Asrul Shamri), an intelligent and active member of the Usahawan Cilik initiative, to inspire the training of children in financial literacy and basic trade savvy.”

Karnival Mai Dagang – with the colloquial use of “mai” meaning “mari” in casual Malay – ushers everyone, especially family and young people, to come out and trade.

It was officially launched by MATRADE chairman Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad last Thursday in the presence of chief executive officer Ali Sabri Sani Abdullah, and invited guests.

To add razzmatazz to the December school holidays, the famous Japanese robot Gundam accompanied by the immensely popular Didi & Friends came together to impart a love for maths amongst children, and promote trading to youths and families.

The carnival also gave voice to young business entrepreneurs in the personal care, filming, and children education businesses, who shall share their trade wisdoms with university students.

The ever popular Ustaz Zamri Mantop of TV9 Mari Mengaji highlighted trading as the noble profession of both the Prophet Muhammad and his beloved wife Khadijah Al-Kubra in his sermon entitled “Berdagang Adalah Profesi Mulia Dalam Islam” to his big fan following at the carnival.

Various exhibitors comprising mainly traders in the small and medium industries will add colour and excitement to visitors’ shopping experience – from curry paste to fashion, delectable prawn crackers to daging salai, puddings and perfumes, children’s toys and fun games, there is so much to see and sample.

The carnival held for four consecutive days from 8th to 11th December at the Evolve Concept Mall, Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya from 10.00 am – 8.00 pm. There was ample free parking of 3,000 car park bays and the Kelana Jaya LRT stop at the mall at Ara Damansara.
